A report by a British ISIS fighter, Abu Adam Al-Britani, tells us that life is dire and dangerous in Raqqa, the ISIS stronghold but for cats life is looking a bit easier because they can eat the dead human flesh of rotting corpses littering the obliterated city. There is food aplenty.
Of course life for former domestic or street cats in Raqqa has been hell and obviously many cats have been killed by Russian and Syrian Regime bombs and now by American-backed forces. Many civilians have died. There are about 400 ISIS fighters left in the city.
Al-Britani observed:
“There are some cats which have become so fat because they have been eating dead human flesh.”
I think this is the first time I have read an eye witness account of street cats eating the flesh of humans. It is incredibly grizzly and sad. It highlights the gruesome reality of life in this destroyed city and probably gives us a glimpse of what life is like and has been like for domestic cats in any war zone.
P.S. For me it is not clear that the picture on this page shows a cat eating human flesh but that is the caption.

Nothing new.

Also not surprising is that the head of ASPCA approves of this. Cats are, after all, more important than the lives or flesh of any humans.
