Hand showing puncture wounds from cat bite

These are the puncture wounds inflicted on a man in Nebraska by a feral cat. They were deep. The guy had to undergo a rabies treatment programme which is expensive and painful. The reason why he had to undergo it was because he shot the cat in the head after he had prised the cat off his hand which meant that the laboratory could not test the cat for rabies. If they were able to test the cat and found that the cat did not have rabies he could have avoided the rabies treatments. He was also treated with antibiotics. The brain has to be intact and the animal should not have been killed some time ago otherwise the test can’t be done.
