There are millions of feral cats within society. What is a feral cat people ask? A feral cat is a formerly domesticated loving cat that has been abandoned & has no contact with humans at all, thus it has turned wild (feral) – includes kittens born to fertile females. Death casualties are high by cars, other animals & disease.
To limit reproducing within colonies TNR is used (trap, neuter, return) thus the cats continue existing within a colony but no more kittens are born; cats will live out their natural life, a caretaker (feeder) makes sure cats are well fed & cared by a local veterinarian for vaccinations and routine care.
The problem is not the cats but irresponsible owners due to these reasons:
a) cat is no longer wanted after novelty wears off
b) cat is pregnant due to failure of spaying, thus multiplying (pun intended)
Cats MUST be neutered/spayed at a young age to minimize unwanted litters that usually are EUTHANIZED.
A cat that’s neutered/spayed lives a longer, healthier life, male don’t roam/fight nor spray
As members of society we are responsible for these cats, their health & emotional well being
