Feral cat problem is ours!!

(Southern Arizona.)

There are millions of feral cats within society. What is a feral cat people ask? A feral cat is a formerly domesticated loving cat that has been abandoned & has no contact with humans at all, thus it has turned wild (feral) – includes kittens born to fertile females. Death casualties are high by cars, other animals & disease.

To limit reproducing within colonies TNR is used (trap, neuter, return) thus the cats continue existing within a colony but no more kittens are born; cats will live out their natural life, a caretaker (feeder) makes sure cats are well fed & cared by a local veterinarian for vaccinations and routine care.

The problem is not the cats but irresponsible owners due to these reasons:

a) cat is no longer wanted after novelty wears off
b) cat is pregnant due to failure of spaying, thus multiplying (pun intended)

Cats MUST be neutered/spayed at a young age to minimize unwanted litters that usually are EUTHANIZED.

A cat that’s neutered/spayed lives a longer, healthier life, male don’t roam/fight nor spray

As members of society we are responsible for these cats, their health & emotional well being

Feb 03, 2012 Feral cats GIANT problem caused by us !!
by: Anonymous

Thanks for your intuitive response, if we don’t care for our cats, feral problem will continue, sadly a very serious detriment to our feline friends, if I need to apologize then let it be, I’m a cat lover & very outspoken for what I believe is right, in this care our precious furry, purring friends.

Best wishes in your endeavors,
Southeast Arizona

There speaks someone with sense !
Until everyone takes the responsibilty to have their cats neutered and accepts a cat is not a possession to throw out if it becomes inconvenient to keep him/her, the problem of feral cats will go on.
Those cats are blamed, chased away or killed by uncaring people, when in reality they are the innocent ones, the victims in fact of the inhumanity of the human race.
It’s heartbreaking for true cat lovers struggling to help those cats, TNR is a horrible job to have to do, but we do it for the sake of the cats.
It does work, it works here in the UK !

I totally agree of course. Many visitors to this site would agree with you too. Most visitors in fact. Some think a mass slaughter is the answer. They must be wrong on a number of levels. The current legalised slaughter is wrong on a number of levels too.

Thanks for visiting and sharing.
