Firefighters save cat from burning home in Canaveral Groves; five people displaced

A cat is safe tonight after being coaxed from a burning home in Canaveral Groves, Florida that displaced five people.

Brevard County Fire Rescue along with the assistance of Cocoa Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on the 3700 block of Canaveral Groves Boulevard this afternoon. The call came in around 3:50 p.m. According to BCFR there were no reported injuries.

Crews were able to knock the fire down and stopped its progression into the rest of the home. The fire was contained to the attic, although heavy smoke damage was reported throughout the home.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the four adults and one child who lived there. Lucky, the family cat, was found inside and coaxed to safety by the BCFR crews.
