This is about the well-known and very distinct inverted V dark fur head marking of the Turkish Van cat and cats of the Van type i.e. non-purebred Van cats. You see lots of Van-type cats around the Med but also in many other areas including of course the selectively bred Turkish Van purebred cat although I think that you’ll find that there are very few if any of the original, true Turkish Van genes in Turkish Van cats bred in the West save of course for the genes that create the famous inverted V marking as described in the infographic below.
