Highlander cat: pictures of 2 cats

Here are some extra pictures of two Highlander cats that I have on my computer which have not been published before on PoC.

The photos are by the celebrated cat photographer Helmi Flick and published here with her permission. You can see more pictures and a full description of this rare cat breed on this page.

The Highlander has many different coat types. There is no restriction.

The Highander is a bobtailed cat with curled ears. He or she is usually quite a solid, largish cat.

The pointed Highlander on this page is Jasmine. She has longer fur than a shorthaired cat. Let’s call it medium-long. She appears to be what is called “lynx pointed”. This means the areas of dark fur at the extremities are broken up by the tabby gene. You could call it tabby pointing. Her tail has the appearance of the tail of an American bobtail, another American cat breed that is also fairly rare.

The other cat (I don’t have his name) is a spotted tabby. He has a nice coat. He looks fairly small and fresh faced. I’ll presume he is a sub-adult – not yet fully grown up.

Click on the links to see the Highlander cats living with Jessica (a seal point), Sue (tabby) and Donna. Donna and Sue provide useful breed descriptions as well.

    • Yes, if I am honest it is a manufactured cat breed that fits a small space in the spectrum of cat breeds. This cat is like an American Curl but the ears don’t curl so much and there is a bobbed tail. That is it. A combo cat: American Curl + American Bobtail (sort of).
