Canada lynx are medium-sized wild cats. Sometimes people refer to them as big cats but they are aren’t. They are larger than typical domestic cats but much smaller than the big cats such as the leopard. They weigh approximately 8-11 kilograms (17.6 pounds) to 11 kilograms (24.2 pounds). Surprisingly, perhaps, this is no larger than the huge Maine Coons, the popular American purebred domestic cat, that we see on the internet.
Both the Canada lynx and the Eurasian are normally less than a meter in length, measuring from the nose to the end of their short tail which is about 10-15 centimeters in length (4-6 inches). Both species stand at about 48-56 centimeters (18.9 inches to 22 inches) to the shoulder.
