Humans are the cause of koalas facing extinction in parts of Australia

You’ll see so called Australian experts and respected scientists being very critical of the feral cat in Australia. They believe they are a terrible threat to wildlife and one specialist koala website mentions feral cats as one predator. The koala is a vulnerable creature in Australia.

But they are more vulnerable to human activity than feral cats and dogs. Human activity is the world’s biggest killer of wildlife by a country mile. And it is happening in Australia. The conservation group WWF has warned that the koala could be extinguished in certain Australian states because of deforestation and increased attacks by livestock. So farmers are responsible for koalas being killed and the lumber business is also responsible.

The shattering amount of forest chopped down for toilet paper or ‘solid wood furniture’ and the like is gut wrenching to people who care about the forests and the creatures living in them. Forests are surely the most important home for wildlife. And yet humans almost ignore it. There is a voracious appetite for timber in the West. There are not enough trees. And don’t tell me it is sustainable. You can’t make hardwood sustainable can you?

There are not enough trees for koalas in parts of Australia and linked habitats. This means their habitat is fragmented by human activity of various kinds such as roads, industry and settlements.

“A report, produced by the Scottish Wildcat Association, reviewed 2,000 records of camera trap recordings, eyewitness reports and road kills, and concluded there may be only about 40 wildcats left in Scotland in the wild today. ‘However you juggle the figures, it is hard to find anything positive,’ says Steve Piper, the association’s chairman. ‘The overwhelming evidence is that the wildcat is going to be extinct within months.'” … “However, it is not the loss of habitat that is causing the current cat crisis in the Cairngorms. It is the spread of the domestic cat.” … “Essentially the Highland wildcat is being eradicated by an alien invasive species: the domestic cat.”

That report was quoted from 5 years ago. Since then they’ve only found less than 19 pure Scottish Wildcats left in the whole world in their native habitat. Those are now dying-off from diseases spread to them by your house-cats and by having to compete for food-sources now being wasted as tortured play-toys by your stray house-cats. On top of that, even if you destroyed every last house-cat in their environment to try to save them, it is already too late. 19 individuals is not even enough RNA diversity for a successful species anymore. They are already extinct even though a handful remain today.

It isn’t hunting that caused it, it isn’t loss of habitat that caused it — YOU caused it! And again you post your self-deceptive and manipulative lies just so you never have to assume any responsibility for the extinctions of native species that YOU cause. The only question I ever have is, why were you even born. You contribute absolutely nothing to maintaining a habitable planet for all other living things while you still continue to spew even more self-deceptive and manipulative lies to ensure the demise of all other living things — except for you and your cats of course. How nice of you. The sooner that you and all just like you are are gone from the planet for good, all the better. Today wouldn’t be soon enough.

  3. I find it amazing that you so easily distance yourself from the destruction that you yourself have caused and still promote causing; even more of, every day. Not only in the UK with your man-made cats causing the extinction of your very own native Scottish Wildcat, but worldwide where you want to also blame anyone and everyone but yourself. What kind of mind does it take to be as blind and self-deceptive as you while you also relentlessly prove that you have no moral-compass nor any kind of conscience whatsoever.

House-cats, being a product of man (if humans didn’t exist on earth your cats never would have either), are no less of a man-made environmental disaster than any oil-spill, radiation-fallout, chemical-spill, or other environmental disaster caused by man. People who let cats stray are just as much the cause of those other reasons (habitat loss, deforestation, pesticides, etc.) as those who don’t promote the existence of cats. Add promoting a man-made predator like cats into human behavior and those humans who promote cats are now killing all native wildlife around the whole planet on the order of nearly 1000X’s more than those humans who don’t promote cats. You can’t blame all other reasons on everyone else. You are also the cause of those, plus you torture to death billions of animals yearly with your cats. You are the most destructive humans anywhere on earth. A sad sad reality that you refuse to comprehend. That’s why we have this problem.

    • You completely misunderstand me. I am not for free-roaming cats. My cat is confined. I am not for mass cat ownership. I would like to see many less domestic cats and no feral cats. I am for cat welfare and protecting wildlife. I have always been like this. I am against trolls who spread misinformation (as I genuinely understand it) or who are very biased against the cat and want to kill cats.

    • You say this:

“the destruction that you yourself have caused”

Then refer to the Scottish Wildcat. Personally I have no connection with the destruction of this species of cat. It happened mainly before 1835. I keep my cat confined to the back garden and the house. I believe in that method of cat caretaking. I believe there should be no feral cats. I believe all cats should be treated with respect. I believe that there are too many domestic and semi-domestic cats in the world. I believe that there are too many irresponsible cat owners. And I believe there are too many cruel people who kill and hurt cats of all kinds. I believe you are one of these people.
