Meghan Markle is America’s Princess. Everyone knows about it. Everyone knows that she is getting married to Prince Harry and it does not take long to find out that one of her other great loves is a rescue dog, a labrador-shepherd cross whose name is Guy. Guy has just arrived in the UK from Megan’s former home in Toronto. Her other dog, Bogart, is a six-year-old beagle who has remained in Canada with close friends we are told by the Telegraph newspaper.
It appears that Megan has a way with dogs. The Queen’s corgis have already warmed to her. Harry complains that they always bark at him but as soon as Megan met with one of the Queen’s corgis there was no barking just an instant affection before settling at her feet.
Megan is an assertive woman. She is intelligent and she is attractive. She would be a great ambassador for rescue cats. She could do the world of good in promoting the adoption of cats from rescue centres. She could promote TNR programs across America and Canada. There is so much which could be done by a high-profile American Princess in promoting animal welfare with particular emphasis on domestic cat and dog companions and how to save their lives through improved animal guardianship.
Let’s hope that as Megan likes dog so much she also likes animals in general a lot and therefore perhaps she might become a spokesperson for rescue animals in general. It is said that Harry and Megan may well eclipse William and Kate. At the moment William and Kate just have to step out the front door to be photographed and Kate is essentially a clothes horse for high-fashion designers. What she wears sells.
I wonder how they feel about Harry and Megan’s engagement. No doubt they are very pleased but I’ll predict that the cameras, for the foreseeable future, will be focused on his brother and his new wife-to-be and they might not like that too much.
