Introducing Mountain Lions to Eastern America Could Save Human Lives — 2 Comments

  1. Everyone I know lives in dread and fear of smacking into a deer.
Now the unaddressed problem with releasing an alpha predator into a resource rich environment. Populations will increase rapidly because of the availability in fact over abundance of food. The more cougars the more human encounters the more encounters the more attacks.
I’m sure there are areas where release would work. Addressing the overpopulation of deer through culling has to happen. That would include making it illegal to feed them during the winter and expanded hunting seasons.
There have been sporadic reports of cougars in the eastern states. Of course I believe the Thylacine lives.
