Feeding baby food to cats is all right for a short time and perhaps under veterinary supervision. In this instance it is helping to socialise this feral kitten because the cat likes the food and at the same time is being petted and therefore they associate something good with human contact. However, baby food is short on arginine which is a vital requirement in a domestic cat’s diet. Without it they can develop brain damage. Baby food can also be used to help treat diarrhoea in cats. There are advantages but it must be provided with great caution and common sense. Just because a domestic cat likes it is not good reason to give it without considering the need to provide a balanced and full diet.
