The bowl in the picture is designed to avoid whisker fatigue. It is from Dr Catsby’s Feline Remedies. You can see it is shallow. A cat’s whiskers do not touch the side of the bowl. This avoids the risk of them being stimulated. This in turn avoids the cat receiving inappropriate signals via his/her nervous system while eating. The signals can be uncomfortable for a cat. This can result in the cat becoming a finicky eater. One cat owner says that her cat became fearful of the feeding bowl and she put it down to whisker fatigue.
