I am afraid the Singapura cat is not hypoallergenic. This cat is said to be the smallest of all the breeds. ‘Singapura’ in the Malay name for Singapore the place where it is claimed the cat orginally came from. It appears that the couple who founded the breed ficitionised the origin of the breed, were found out and amended their story which is still doubtful.
‘Hypoallergenic’ does not that mean there is no allergic reaction. It means that there is less of a chance. The online definition is ‘relatively unlikely to cause an allergic reaction’. So it is not 100%. This is just for the record as people searching for a hypoallergenic cat might believe that they can adopt a cat which is wholly allergen free. I am afraid not. There is a food currently manufactured which partially nullifies the effect of the allergen which causes the allergy – Fel d1. Click this to read about it.
