USA: A woman casually wanders around the lobby of an animal hospital and when the receptionist is distracted opens a cage and takes a kitten and leaves the building. Simple. She had two kids in tow.

The issue that I have and which is not mentioned in the video is that the cats in cages in reception are for adoption and this kitten should not have been there and the cage should have been locked. The kitten was not ready for adoption because he had not been neutered.

For some reason unknown at present the kitten was in the lobby and the cage door unlocked. We can’t be too hard on anyone. These things happen and as the manager in the video says you don’t expect cat theft from the lobby of a hospital.

It’s strange that someone should steal a kitten from an animal hospital when there are plenty of other relatively cheap ways to adopt rescue cats. Stray cats wander into people’s lives often enough. However, the woman wanted her cat to be entirely free (not possible because a lifetime’s care awaits). She has failed in one way because she’ll have to pay for neutering unless she wants to breed from him. She may not realise that the stolen kitten is unneutered.

  1. wish there was some way to track her down, and hope that place and others will start being more careful and locking cages

  2. I’m rather shocked that she was allowed to wander around in the waiting room Both Vet clinics that I use check you in at the door just coming in to have a look around would alert them that something was up.

  3. This isn’t too uncommon here.
I’m as baffled as anyone else as to why anyone would resort to stealing any cat or kitten when they are in abundance here. No store or restaurant parking lot is without. Not all are feral and can, easily, be handled.
I hope that this thieving woman is caught and forbidden to have any animals, ever. A person’s character tells a lot about how well treated a cat would be in my book.
