KITTYO: a device for interacting with your cat when not at home

Kittyo a device that lets you interact with your cat when not at home

Kittyo is a high tech device that lets you interact with your cat when you are away from home, wherever you are. You just need:

  • a smart phone and almost everyone has got one of those;
  • the downloaded Kittyo iOS and Android smartphone app and
  • the Kittyo device strategically placed at home.

It is a cat product for the modern age. We know there are lots of domestic cats. We know there are lots of cat caretakers who are busy and away from home for long periods. A cat can be alone throughout the day. With advances in technology, Lee Miller came up with the idea for a clever cat product, which allows a person to do some real cat caretaking when not at home.

The product uses downloaded, smart phone software to remotely operate the Kittyo device at home. So, what can Kittyo do?

You can:

  1. Attract your cat to Kittyo through sound or direct communication;
  2. View your cat via the embedded webcam;
  3. Record videos and take photos of your cat while at play;
  4. Enable the interactive laser pointer to add fun and exercise to your cat’s day and even….
  5. Dispense treats..

It is a comprehensive set of functions. The Kittyo combines great functionality with excellent design. This is a good looking cat product. The Kittyo device was designed by Ion Product Development.

Kittyo is currently in development. If you are interested you can visit their website and sign up to find out when you can get it at a discounted price.

When I was provided with details about Kittyo, I immediately thought of Marc, a regular contributor to PoC. This device is a refinement and an advancement on what Marc has been doing for a while. Marc uses computers and Skype to watch his cats while at work and talk to them.

I have a feeling that the Kittyo will do well because as people become busier in an ever more competitive world and domestic cats become more popular as a suitable companion there will be more cases of cats being left alone at home. This is not ideal. A cat can develop separation anxiety. This can lead to health problems such as cystitis and general urinary tract problems. Stress can affect a cat’s health generally. Kittyo tackles these problems.

  1. Hi Ruth,
    You bring up a very valid concern. The good news is that it’s something we’ve thought about because we love cats and don’t want to hurt them in any way! The laser pointer is controlled by the owner remotely who can see what’s going on. Therefore they can be sure to avoid the cat’s eyes, Or if they see a problem of any sort they can cut off the laser pointer.
    I hope this helps answer your question and puts your mind at ease.
    Best,
    Kittyo

  2. I just have a mobile (your cell) for texts really to keep in touch with Babz when she’s at work, or for emergencies when I’m out. I hate making or taking calls on it, it’s like talking into a bar of chocolate lol

  3. I don’t have a smart phone either, RAKA. I havec a home phone and a basic cell in case the power goes out.
    It’s rare that I am gone more than 2-3 hours.

    I, also, like what Marc does. It’s much more personal.
