Lab-grown cat food manufacturer needs cat taste testers urgently (£5k pm)!

You might know that the concept of growing cat food in a laboratory as opposed to using livestock is trending and I would predict that it is an industry that will become very dominant in the years to come. And here we have a start-up company, as I understand it, called Omni, which is looking for cat owners to agree to allow their cat to taste test their product and report back extensively.

And they start off their request for applicants by saying that you can get paid £60,000 “for your cat to taste test cruelty free chicken food”. This is a very big inducement. In addition, Omni asks the question “Do you and your cat fancy earning some money and free food?” There will be thousands of applications I predict.

An Omni participating cat food taste tester being videoed. This is a fictional, imagined situation. The cat food in the image is generic as assessed by an AI computer. It does not look like Omni’s food as far as I know.

So, Omni is paying people to arrange for their cats to taste test their food. I think this is a wonderful opportunity. Ideally people should be able to take decent photographs and make decent videos and I think they should be skilled cat caregivers. He wants people who can think scientifically and objectively to ensure that the reporting is sound and as useful as possible.

I confess that I have applied myself but I don’t necessarily expect to be selected. I’m not applying for the money but because I want to be involved in this project which I think is a very laudable concept mainly because it is cruelty free. The more you delve into the way humans treat livestock the more you realise that it would be a great idea if we found some other source of meat. Lab-growing meat is entirely cruelty free.

I have written an article about the process of growing meat in the laboratory. You might like to read about that by clicking on this link.

Omni suggests that some people might have a negative view of lab-grown meat bass because of misconceptions. They shouldn’t because the end product is going to be nutritious and healthy and taste good even if it is produced in the laboratory.

Successful applicants will be asked to record their experiences when introducing Omni’s new cruelty-free chicken meals to their cat. They will need to monitor feeding rituals and energy levels. Omni want cat caregivers to observe their cat when feeding the new cat food including checking on bowel movements, sleep patterns, weight loss or gain and skin and fur condition.

Dr. Guy Sandelowksy (referred to as Dr. Guy) Omni’s founder who is by the way veterinarian, commented that his product will be nutritionally sound and could even confer certain health benefits for cats’.

There will be lots of applicants and he is offering an astonishing £5,000 a month to ensure that the “role is fulfilled professionally and that the data is reliable.”

They will also cover all food expenses for the duration of the assessment. Clearly, this is a diet change from conventional cat food to lab-grown food and therefore there needs to be a particular concern about that change in diet and how it affects the cat.

The closing date for applicants is 15 May 2024. On the Omni website there is an application form and you can click this link to go to that form if you wish.
