Lil Bub dies abruptly without warning at 8

Lil Bub was probably the internet’s No. 2 cat celebrity over the past couple of years, after Grumpy Cat and now both have passed over the Rainbow Bridge. This was a worldwide status. They were both uniquely successful in their own way. They both made and raised a lot of money for charity and their owners.

Both had anatomical defects due to a genetic inheritance which made them celebrities thanks to their interesting appearance.

De Niro and Lil Bub

Mr Mike Bridavsky, Lil Bub’s human guardian, said her death came ‘abruptly without warning’ and ‘Please visit all of us in our dreams’. I am not sure what that means but there has been an outpouring of grief at her passing because she had an army of social media followers. A bone infection was the cause of death we are told by The New York Times.

Lil Bub was born on June 21, 2011. Her life was cut short at 8 years of age. She suffered from osteoporosis which was diagnosed when she was one.

It made her immobile and she received daily treatment. In her final years she was able to run and jump. She was the runt of a feral kitten litter and rescued. She also suffered from dwarfism (short legs) and other defects such as an uneven jaw and an extra toe on each of her paws (polydactylism).

She helped raise more than $700k for animal welfare organisations.

  • I remember when Lil Bub passed away, I was heartbroken.
Best job, Bub. We love you and miss you.

  • $700k seems a lot but it's over 8 years. Remember, it's $700k MINUS vet specialists fees, medication costs for life. I'm sure there were huge expenses to keep the little girl well. In the end she was running and jumping! I'm sure that just didn't happen overnight. How much was that worth? AS MUCH AS HE COULD GET! Ask the man and you might be surprised how much of that money went to not only Animal Welfare but specifically Cat Welfare. He got to see this wonderful little girl survive, grow and live well. Who cares how much, if any, money he made?
Thank this man for his devotion and patience for this sweet, adorable, little girl. Walk on the grass, lay in the sun, Lil Bub. You went thru a lot and were loved around the world.
Thank you for sharing your life with us. By now, Lil Bub, you've found the beautiful Rainbow Bridge - and you're all better again. You're a normal little kitten now. If you see my Daisy near the bridge, say "Hi" to her for me and let her know I'll see her soon.
Bye sweet little girl. How precious, how special you were.

  • How many Millions or thousands of U.S Dollars did the owner of "LIL BUB" Mr Mike .Bridavsky make during her short 8 years life-span ?Sad but true is the fact that majority of deformed dwarfs wheter human or from the 4 legged animal world have short life-spans in comparison to the average human or respective species population. R.I.P "LIL BUB".

    • Yes, the owner made a lot of money and that was his intention for adopting Lil Bub and secondly it is deformed cats who often become celebrities. It looks wrong to me. Hope you are well Rudolph.

  • Raised $700k, huh? Wonderful! One of the hardest working cats in the business you could say. A lot of people are unsung heroes though. Sorry Lil Bub passed away.

    • It seems a hell of a lot. The New York Times reported it. Not sure how accurate it is but it does indicate how much the owner made :) Let's say he became a millionaire thanks to his cat.
