Who says cats are solitary, insular, aloof animals? Think again. This lion loves and adores her human friend.
The love and affection from this lion screams out of the video. I recently wrote an article about a Times journo who believes that cats can’t be as good as a companion as dogs and yet here we have a lion showing true interspecies companionship on a grand scale.
I suppose we have to accept that the lion is the only wild cat who lives in groups but the domestic cat can also live in groups (colonies) and make friends.
The man is Jonathan Hawkins. He is a teacher living in South Korea. The video was filmed in Botswana, Africa. I believe he cares for this lion.
That was fairly stupid… They are endangered. It seems that my common sense and retention of common knowledge are also endangered. lol. Sorry, Michael ;_
What a wonderful bond between them! <3
This makes me curious–why are servals bred with certain domestic breeds, while cheetahs are not attempted to be bred with Savannahs, and some of the other hybrids? I only ask because I know that they are so loyal to their humans like Savannahs. Servals have been bred successfully, sireing(sp.) so many lovely Savannahs. This is a question I have thought about now and again, w/o doing the research…
I see cat love that is even more exuberant and emotional than for the domestic cat. That might be a lesson to us about cat emotions and how cats feel about good cat guardians.
I agree that this lion acts like a dog. I believe we should rethink the mentality of the wild cat species and be more sensitive to the emotions of the domestic cat.
This is just beautiful she is almost dog like she is so excited I love the way she just leaps into his arms 🙂
I know you said this was a Lion but she looks rather like a lioness either that as you say a young lion without his mane.
Cat love at its best – the purrs and snuzzling.
