Intro: this is Yousef’s argument about a lion versus tiger fight in response to MikeB’s article.
I don’t agree at all with you on your assessment on the winner of a lion versus tiger fight. It seems that you show so much wrong information. And you believe the Chinese who fabricated so many video tapes to prove that the tiger is the winner..BUT actually from expert’s and trainer’s facts, the lion wins by a minimum of 95% of the time, when a healthy, fully grown lion and tiger fight each other.
To explain why, here is my argument:
The lion is at the top at the food chain eating 40kg of meat at once; the tiger eats 32kg only.
Lion’s bite at 2152 newton; the tiger at 1859 newton. The lion’s front height is 1.23m, tiger 1m (the front is more important in fights).
The average lion’s weight is 197 kg, tiger’s average is 183 kg. The largest lion ever found was 1100 lbs, while the largest tiger ever found weighed 857 lbs.
Even most of the largest tigers in the world (Siberian tigers) do not exceed 217 kg on average, while most of the largest lions (African) it is 229 kg. The lion’s length can reach (body + tail), 2.5 + 1.05m = 3.55m, while for the tiger it is 2.2 + 1.2 = 3.4m.
Muscle mass is about 67% of the lion’s body, while it is only 60% of the tiger’s body (muscles are more important in fights). The lions and tiger’s teeth are almost the same length but lion ones are a little bit thicker.
The lion has more power, stamina, aggression and braveness because the lion’s body has a higher testosterone hormone level than the tiger (this hormone is responsible for more stamina, anger, wildness, power and ferocity).
Lion’s blood has a larger number of red cells than tiger’s blood (almost double)! The lion’s speed can reach 45 miles per hour, tigers can reach up to 38 miles per hour.
Lions have manes around their heads which panic any rival including tigers.
Plus, to add to all the above you should know the following: in the old ages in Europe (Roman) they used to say that the lion was an unbeatable beast. They used to push tigers to fight lions not the opposite! Also lions used to fight and defeat large elephants and brown beers (the largest in the world) while tigers used to run away from such fights!
In Korea and China, they know all the above facts, but they worship tigers because there are no lions in Asia except in the Gir forest in India!
Once in Korea, they brought one large African lion from the Tsavo area and they put this lion against the largest Siberian tiger. They had to record this fight. But after 3 mins of fighting the lion mauled the tiger to death. Then they entered another 4 tigers, one after another and the result was that the lion mauled them all! Then on purpose they injured the lion; made him bleed and shaved his mane and then they entered another 2 tigers together! to fight this lion and after a strong fight the tigers manage to kill the lion!!
There are so many occasions in the past ages, and in the modern age told by experts about a single lion managing to kill 2, 3, 4, 5 tigers one after another! but there are no stories saying the the opposite!.
So my friend don’t believe fabricated video tapes and clips made by asians it is all fake!!..In India, the land of the tiger, one of the most famous names is SINGH!…Singh means LION…so they know in themselves who is the king and stronger!! Once in a zoo in USA, there was a lion and a tiger who grew up in this zoo They put these two animal in one cage and they threw 100kg of meat to both (this quantity is enough for both). Do you believe that tiger did not approach the food till the lion finished eating and left his place, then the tiger came to eat (by instinct the tiger knows who is the boss)!!
Above all you should know these facts: the lion is a social animal that lives in a pride, he is braver than the tiger because he knows that if he is injured the females will take care of him, while the tiger is a sole animal afraid to go into a fight because if he got injured he would keep bleeding til he was dead!
That’s why lions always fight face to face with no fear. But tigers hunt and fight by stealth, hunting smaller prey than the prey of lions.
Also lions start fighting from day one of their lives, while tiger cubs start from the 4th month. Experts always say that tigers show a real fear when confronted with lions. Lions also fight for a longer fighting time than tigers. Lions regularly fight the lion, 2 at once, 3 at once and sometimes 4 at once, but tigers never fight more than one tiger at once! Most of the cultures in the world worship lions (this didn’t come from nothing)!!
Experts say that the brown beer living in America is the only animal in the world that can challenge the lion!
Plus..living in dense cold forests, lots of water and trees allover, such environments in Asia make the life of the tiger somehow easier than the lion’s life in Africa. Because the habitat helps the tiger’s stealth to hide to hunt and the prey has little chance to escape because of huge trees. But the lion that lives in savannas and in a open wide landscape with higher temperatures, less water etc. it makes it very difficult for the lion to hunt because the prey will see the lion approaching and have enough time and space to run away. Such a situation forces the lion to apply more effort to hunt. More effort makes the lion’s body more stronger!.
The lions life is much more miserable than the tiger’s life. This is why lions bodies have more muscles mass – having better fighting skills, eating larger meals than tigers and why they sleep daily more than tigers! While tigers have more fat on their bodies!
And this is why lions are more aggressive, ferocious, strong and powerful than tigers.
By the way, the Sebrian tiger which is the largest of all tigers has less stamina, power, aggression and fighting skills than other kinds of tigers. This is a fact!
In the FACE-OFF discovery channel show, a large number of experts studied many numbers of animals’ characteristics. They put all this information into a computer program, and then the computer analysed the results of the fights between 2 animals (one of the fights was between the lion and the tiger)…the computer concluded that the lion is the winner!
Basically, by instinct, the tiger often does his best to avoid fighting the lion, while the lion always shows no fear at all from the tiger or other beasts.
The only thing I agree with you on is that the tiger is a better swimmer than the lion.
Finally, scientists and circus/jungle/animal experts agree that in a fight between a healthy, full grown lion and tiger, in wild, the lion wins 10/10, while in cages the lion wins 8/10.
I’ve been doing a web search on the above subject for the last 3 years, and I contacted several experts around the world, and gathered so much information. I then screened the information to exclude the fake information. After all this, I got the pure facts, which I have detailed above to you my friend and believe me I have more to tell, and all of them favour the lion to win against the tiger with a minimum 95% success rate.
