Lioness’s name: Zama
The lioness has cubs and she was hunting to sustain herself to be able to feed them. She stalked the birds. They all escaped bar one. Zama had been injured and was unable to hunt her usual, preferred prey such as warthogs and antelopes. Hyenas stole her prey. She had to modify her behavior and hunt different prey. Lions are very resourceful and fine hunters. The best bird hunter (in flight!) are caracals. They frequently catch them in flight as they are the best jumper, pound for pound, amongst all the wild cat species.
When the wildebeest migration starts prey should be easier to come by for Zama.
Good for her! Any mother would do the same.
Ofcourse, I hate this.
But, mother cats are on strong alert to sustain themselves and their babies. She has to do what she has to do. She can’t take care of her babes if she’s not caring for herself.
Yes, this is a fantastic animal who’ll do anything to survive and allow her cubs to survive. We learn from her.
