Los Osos cat reunited with his owner after being accidentally trapped inside a camper for 21 days

A companion cat has been reunited with his veteran owner after being accidentally trapped for 21 days inside a camper in Los Osos, California.

Trapped cat ‘Storm’ survived 21 days trapped in camper

Storm spent 21 days without food or water after unknowingly being trapped. Owner Nicko Agapay was reunited with Storm on Sunday. The poor kitty was dehydrated, hungry and afraid and had been missing since April 29.

Nicko posted Storm online and began calling animal shelters in the area. The owner of the camper, Kristin Hansen, said her daughter’s roommate heard meowing from inside the camper. Kristin found the cat and was able to match Storm up with missing cat flyers she found online.

Kristin explained what she believed happened to KSBY News

“Apparently, somehow the cat went inside during the short time my husband had the door open and of course he did not realize this had occurred.”

Nicko told KSBY that Storm is an inspiration

“He’s a survivor – tough – and just, he wasn’t ready to go. Hearing him go through that is just inspiring for me. He’s shy like me.”

Storm was a gift from Nicko’s girlfriend after he returned from serving in the Navy.

Cats becoming trapped in a building or even in vehicles happens a lot. Some cats take a ride and are found hundreds or thousands of miles from home. Others are located in vacant structures. Sometimes they survive their confinement and sometimes they don’t.

Be sure to search any ‘home improvement project’ area before closing things up. Cats are sneaky. They can slip right by without being noticed.

Storm’s prognosis is good. He was checked by the veterinary staff at Mission Animal Hospital in San Luis Obispo. Hopefully, the cat won’t go exploring again anytime soon.

Have any of the readers had a cat situation similar to Storms? Personally, I had a cat who hung out in a mechanics garage back in the 1980s and the owner didn’t notice she was in there. I called him when she didn’t return home and sure enough, she was inside.
