This is the happy ending story about a 13-year-old cat and the volunteer who fell in love with him at first sight.
I’ve been keeping up with the devastating wildfires in California and posted a story on PoC on November 12 about the Humane Society of Ventura County (located in Ojai) needing both volunteers and monetary donations to help the animals they’re taking in.
The Humane Society posted a sweet adoption story on November 17 about a volunteer named Sara who fell in love with a sweet senior hanging out in the cat lobby. Their Facebook post proves good things can come out of a bad situation, especially when cats are involved.
“Congratulations to 13-year-old Sammie who was adopted by Sara! Sara responded to our call for extra volunteers to help muck stalls for the evacuee horses in our care. While here, Sara saw Sammie in our cat lobby and it was love at first sight!”
Sammie has called the HSVC home since August 24. Thank you, Sara, for giving this beautiful senior a forever home.
When animals need a safe haven, the HSVC is here for them. The private, nonprofit animal welfare organization that has been providing vital animal-related services throughout the County since 1932. The HSVC enriches the lives of families and communities through adoption services, medical care, education, emergency services, and the prevention of animal cruelty. All of their programs and services are funded one hundred percent by donations, memorials, and sponsorships. You can donate by clicking here.

I mucked out stalls for years when I was younger. That’s what I’d be doing up there now, and adopting cats too. Good all around.
It seems that your life has always be very involved with animals.
