Loving cat skewered by an arrow recovers fully and is rehomed

News media reported on July 25, 2019 a little black cat wandering around a Roanoke, Virginia, neighbourhood with an arrow directly through his body. It caused a commotion in the community as you might expect (except for the person who did it).

A person living in the neighbourhood, Michael Eck, said:

“You know I was just waking up. Yeah, there was a lot of people, a lot of commotion going on and that’s what I open my door to.”

Michael lives on the Pine Tree Mobile Home Park estate. When he opened his front door he found people screaming and shouting that there is an arrow through a cat. He couldn’t believe it at first but when he approached the cat he saw something which he says he cannot erase from his mind.

“It just looked terrible and I couldn’t really look at it.”

A neighbour called the local Animal Control who brought in a rescue agency, Angels of Assisi to assist. Fortunately they were able to successfully treat this little black cat with surgery who they named Little John.

They say in a Facebook post that it was a bittersweet moment when they released Little John to his new home with his new guardians. All the staff at the rescue center fell in love with him and they were very sad to see him go. Little John was adopted last Thursday and went to his new home Friday.

It is another happy ending cat story. From abuse to love. It is another story too of the resilience of the domestic cat being able survive such a serious injury and maintain his good nature throughout. He’s a loving, affectionate male act by all accounts.

Comment: it is not uncommon for cats in the USA, UK and elsewhere to be shot with arrows form crossbows, pellets from air rifles (UK) and bullets (.22) from the USA. It is classic cat cruelty by idle cat haters or people without the usual set of emotional responses (deficient people).

I ernestly try and avoid such stories and reject 90% of them. Where there is a happy ending as in this example I am more interested in writing a post.
