This is a Russian bred Maine Coon from the Marvel Forest cattery. If you want an extreme bred Maine Coon search the Russian breeders. They do amazing things with Maine Coons. This little fella does not look like a Maine Coon (MC) but I believe he grew up to be an amazing individual of real stature. Take a look at the other photo on this page which shows him grown up and magnificent. There is another Russian MC breeder who plays God and creates cats that look like humans and a Polish MC breeder who makes them look amazing too.
And I believe that this collage shows him grown up. I have assumed he is male! His appearance suggests that.
The eyes of the kitten are bright, glossy blue and yellow when he is an adult. This is because there is no iris pigment in kittens. The blue comes from the refraction of light in the eye. Pigment (melanin) in the iris develops later and in this case it is yellow.
The Russians like their cats and the best Russian breeders are better than the best American breeders. They go further and I feel that they do their work more intelligently. I might be going a bit too far in stating that but this is the feeling that I get. It’s a bit of a shame that Russia is somewhat cut off from the West. I wonder whether there is any substantive collaboration between Russian and American cat breeders particularly in relation to this breed?
