Building the “jungle” for his deceased brother’s cats

I did all of this for him. I wish he could see it. He passed away on Feb 03, 2018 from suicide. I love him and miss him more than words can possibly describe…..

“I adopted my brother’s to Bengals when he passed away. I did my best to build them a cat jungle in my basement and make him proud.”

He had zero experience he said but forged ahead to create a nice environment for his two new cats including a night sky with LED lights in the shape of his brother (see below).

He carpeted the walls and built shelves and caves to “catify” (to use a Jackson Galaxy phrase) his basement as best he could.

He said about his DIY work:

“I know this probably will look quite amateur, and that’s honestly because it completely is. Going into to this project, I had literally zero experience doing anything I did, I just knew I wanted to do something awesome for my little brother and his cats.

I had spent all my money and maxed out my cards on all the supplies and the only 2 things I could afford to pay professionals to do was the framing, and laying the turf. Also I had a good friend do the electrical.
Everything else though, from the dry wall, the shelves, carpeting the walls, making an optical fiber night sky, running speaker wire, were done by me and the help of some of my brother’s friends with no knowledge at all of what we were doing.”

He explains on the Reddit website:

“This is my little brother Boston [see night sky LED array above in video]. I did all of this for him. I wish he could see it. He passed away on Feb 03, 2018 from suicide. I love him and miss him more than words can possibly describe.”

The cat names are Benji and Nala. Wow, is all I can say. That’s love.

This is such a beautiful &maybe healing tribute to his brother, Boston. I think it looks very professional and is perfect for the two Bengal cats.

It is very sad that yet another devoted cat person took their own life. We have a world where the compassionate and empathic often have to carry & bear too much, alone.

Suicide… yeah it does figure. Sensitive guy loves animals. Empathetic. Probably was well aware of animal abuse. His older brother knew and honored him. I’m sensitive too and can’t read too much about animal abuse or people stupidity, lest I just friggin lose it. Compassion exhaustion. Didn’t say why he committed suicide, but that was likely part of it.
