Merlin Survived initially but died later in hospital
This is a quick update on a recent article (opens a new window/tab) about the catastrophic loss of life of shelter cats at the Tea Tree Gully Boarding and Kennels due to a bush fire.
Merlin managed to escape the fire. He was found in a drain and he was the sole cat survivor. He was in a bad way. He was cared for at the Tea Tree Gully Veterinary Hospital.
Merlin was doing okay, apparently. His heart was severely affected and he had fluid on his chest. He had difficulty breathing.
The Tea Tree Gully Veterinary Hospital posted a notice on their Facebook webpage saying:
“Yesterday our family said goodbye to Merlin for the last time. While he was recovering well from most of his injuries, his heart was severely affected by the trauma of his experience and recurring fluid in his chest meant that he was struggling to breathe. He fought so hard to stay with us but couldn’t win this battle. Our family are deeply grateful for the treatment and care he received at Tea Tree Gully Veterinary Hospital.”
RIP Merlin. I hope your journey over the rainbow bridge was a good one.
