MYANMAR – Pet shop name – Shwe Ngar Tine Pyay.

I am a customer from this pet shop. They owned a few pet shops. Last Month, march 2012, I went and visited one of the shop of Shwe Ngar Tine Pyay located in GANDAMAR WHOLE SALES CENTER and another one i know is YUZANA PLAZA, TAMWE TOWNSHIP.

I was about to leave the place but i heard that their is a pet shop in this GANDAMAR WHOLE SALES CENTER. So i decided to drop into the pet shop. When i arrived at the pet shop it was closing time. So i witnessed the shop keeper, stacks all cages (in side the cages dogs, pups, cats, birds and so on).

The shop size is about 10ft x 15ft. He put off the light, put of the aircon, left the animals in air tight room. I could see the poor animals through the transparent glass.

The weather is Myanmar is so hot, now is Summer time. The temperature is some where 37c to 40c. I could imagine, how those poor innocent animals will be suffering inside the Glass cage, air tight room. The animals have to stay inside this air tight room every night from 9pm to 9am. They can only get fresh air when shop keepers come back in the morning.

SHWE NGAR TINE PYAY OWNERS ARE treating all these animals like stocks, they don’t take them as they are alive. Do make money with animals but no heart for animals.

i will visit the shop again and try to get some pictures.

Thank you for sharing your experience Floral. This upset me. The shop sounds like hell for a animal.

This shop should not be allowed to stay open.

But the sad thing is that there are a lot of people in this world who treat animals as if they are not living, feeling creatures.

It is what depresses about this planet.

  1. The author of the best comment will receive an Amazon gift of their choice at Christmas! Please comment as they can add to the article and pass on your valuable experience.
  2. What could be done to help those animals? Or is there no way to or change a pet shop like that? I don’t think that animal rights are developed/emphasized in Myanmar yet…
It has been two years since then. Maybe I will go visit one of thse pet shops later on…

    • Hi and thanks for commenting.I agree that it is distressing reading stories like this. However, it does not surprise me one bit. This article was written about five years ago. The date at the top of the page is incorrect in this instance. In Burma as you state there is often little respect for animals and animal welfare laws are either very poor or if they exist they are poorly enforced. It is a tough life for an animal in Burma and there is nothing that I and perhaps you can do about it I am sorry to say. But thank you so much your concern and for writing this comment.

    • Do you ever think about the birds? Do they sometimes die when transported? Are there less and less exotic birds in India because they are being captured and exported by people like you? Does this concern you?
