At the date of this post (see above), there is no evidence that your companion, domestic cat or dog can be infected with the new coronavirus, according to the WHO – World Health Organisation.. Therefore they cannot spread the disease to people.
It is very important that this message is spread rapidly across China and particularly in Wuhan, the epicentre of the epidemic because there have been instances of terrible cruelty against domestic cat and dogs. Panic has caused this cruel reaction to the frightening spread of the virus, which is called coronavirus (2019-nCoV). I believe the 2019 is the year it was discovered. The ‘nCoV’ must mean ‘new Coronavirus’ or ‘novel Coronavirus’. It is a new respiratory illness. It can be fatal.
