OMG! Talk about a Mouser!

Abby with house.
Abby has grown quite fond of her new-found freedom in a 2-bedroom flat. She has also exercised her 'prey' instinct for the occasional field mouse in a way I didn't count on, but am not surprised.
Her feeding/water dishes are on a kitty placemat on the bottom shelf of a wire shelving unit in the kitchen, which is about 4-6 inches off the floor. We have gas heating through a baseboard system that runs along the wall of the rooms.
The reason I mention this is because Abby has taken to launching herself between the shelving unit, the microwave cart and the baseboard in search of any errant mice she deems have trespassed. I don't know how she does it, but somehow she manages to take the entire kitty placemat in one fell swoop from the shelf to the floor, dishes included and (after hearing the distinct crash) the mat ends up on the floor with the dishes still on them! It's amazing! The only thing that spills is some water from her oversized ceramic water cup when it hits the floor, yet all food and most of the water is still in tact.
It looks like that old tablecloth trick where someone rips out the tablecloth from a table and the dishes remain in tact. The only difference is that Abby has somehow managed to keep the dishes on the mat in the same position as on the shelf. WHOA!
Has anyone else experienced this funny side of their Maine Coon cat? It's hysterical!
Sorry for the grainy photo, but it was taken from my cell phone at night. I got the 'cat house' for the ferals outside, but Abby has taken it over, so I guess I'll just have to get another, LOL!
