Harley was found by my mom as she was driving home in our terrible, “Siberian” winter frozen to the ground in the middle of the street, as a tiny, baby kitten that would fit in your paws.
As she could not keep him in her house, I had the joy of receiving the cat and telling my fiance, that on top of 2 dogs and 2 cats (which he is slightly allergic too) we will now be fostering a third cat, meaning I won’t let it go.
He was really good about it, as he has a BIG heart, and he ended up naming him Harley, as he sounds like a Harley Davidson when he starts purring away!!!
He is now close to 5 months old, and is truly the treasure to my heart. I have always been a cat person, and in fact, I am a HUGE animal lover and activist. My fiance likes to say, that he thinks I like animals more than humans. Most days, he’s right. LOL
I know my breed of cats, probably to the level of my vet. I have studied cats growing up, and have almost every collection of cat books known to the publishers. My dream was to always have a NFC. Surprise, surprise – Harley is a purebred NFC!!!!!
He is everything I have ever read and so much more. The only problem with Harley, is that he knows he is gorgeous and PUREBRED!!! He can be a little snooty sometimes. He doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of the other cats, although the dogs don’t bother him.
My one cat, Lizzie, tried taking him under her wing (as she did with the cat we found in our back yard frozen at 6 weeks old) but Harley wants nothing to do with a kitty-mom. Instead, he decided I was his mom, and is definitely a mommy’s boy. He loves PEOPLE!!! When people are over, he’s right there, checking things out, visiting, making his rounds, having fun. Not to mention his favorite toy in the whole wide world are plastic bags. Not only will he chase it around for hours, but if allowed, he will even sleep in it.
However, Harley knows he has chores in this household!!! So he enjoys helping me do the dishes every night. He lays down beside the sinks, soaks his little paws in the sink, and if he feels it needs more scrubbing, he’ll put his paws on the dish as I’m about to put them in the other sink. He takes the chores of dishes very seriously!
He is the most cuddly cat I have ever met. He definitely leans towards the side of a loaner, and prefers to be on his own, in the presence of people, not animals. He growls at the other cats and sounds like a lion… we just love it. We just love him!!!
In fact, now that we have found him a home, my fiance is trying at all extent to say we should keep him. He keeps saying, the little brat is starting to grow on me, and he is the most perfect cat ever, so if you want to keep him, we can! What he’s trying to say, is he wants to keep him, but won’t say it himself!!!!
