Cat Matahari on the ledge and on the edge...

Cat Matahari on the ledge and on the edge...

Mumbai, India, Monday 26th April 2010... Just today morning at approximately 0615 hrs my house-keeper called me from my computer and pointed at the kitchen window. Seated outside the window was queen cat Matahari, surveying the World below her from 5 stories above.

The video tells the entire story and it really frightened us for the window ledge is absolutely narrow, a slight slip means a fall 5 floors below.
Her 13 month old kitten Matata too occasionally does the same, mimicking her mother, a true "Copy Cat".

What's the reason for a "Persian cat " breed being so fond of perching on dangerous heights, akin to birds?

This is really scary. I wouldnt want that to be my cat out there. I have all my screens to my windows taped in just to be safe. Good luck keeping them off of this ledge. I just pray they dont get scared by something.

Hi Rudolph. As Michael says, she is probably pretty safe, but she is testing her luck a bit too much for my nerves. Even if we believe in fate, it's no reason tempting it that much. I suggest adding some bird net. 😉

She's brave. You are scaring me too. I'd have a heart attack if I was there when she did this.

Hi Rudolph...You are making me nervous. But the truth is that your cat is probably pretty safe. But sometimes cats fall.

Cats are fantastically athletic even laid back Persians but I worry about your sweet white Persian lady.

Is there anything you can do to stop her? I think she wants to go for a walk in Mumbai 🙂

Kittens do learn from watching mother cat. That is why Matata has picked this up, I think.
