I have no idea if this is genuine or photo-edited. It looks genuine but that’s no guarantee. One thing I can guarantee is that it is highly unusual. I have not seen anything like it after 14 years of looking pictures of cats; probably over a quarter of a million of them.
Although I have seen dogs with their legs flat to the floor. But the splits, no.
It looks wrong and uncomfortable. However, it also looks just about feasible but I am unsure that the hip joint allows a cat to do this. I would doubt it which on reflection leads me to believe that it is not genuine. No doubt someone will tell me that it is 🙂 .

Actually this is probably a disabled cat. I’ve seen many cat video’s to know this cat doesn’t have the use of it’s back legs. Notice the leg pointing down, the paw is curled under and the other leg the paw has atrophied.
Yes, agreed. It is just possible that this is the splits but quite possibly a disabled cat. Thanks Tamara.
