The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) breed standard for the Russian Blue is incredibly short, surprisingly so. The photograph on this page shows a superb example of this cat breed. Everything looks just right and in place. The head should be a medium wedge, neither long and tapering nor short and massive. The muzzle should be a smooth flowing wedge according to the breed standard. The eye colour should be vivid green and the coat, in terms of colour, is described as, “even bright blue throughout. Lighter shades of blue preferred. Guard hairs distinctly silver-tipped giving the cat a silvery sheen or lustrous appearance”. The coat should be short, dense, fine and plush.
