Picture of toddler and kitten retaken 12 years later
This is a cool picture from Reddit user: u/lelzpickle. It struck me quite quickly that the pictures highlight the durability of the human-cat relationship. They are 12 years apart. The average marriage in the UK is probably around 9 years. You see what I mean? The durability of the human marriage is in doubt but the cat-human relationship often lasts longer. Why? Because the domestic cat is incredibly predictable. They love routines and they fit in. Domestic cats are inherently more reliable than people. How many people with dubious character traits do you know? Don’t tell me. How many cats with dubious character traits do you know? None I guess.
And by ‘dubious character traits’ I don’t mean hunting mice. That’s natural and normal. And I don’t mean scratching humans. If it happens it is normal, too, under the circumstances. I has to be because everything a cat does is natural.
