The Grass Valley Fire Department rescued a cat and a chicken who were together at the front door of a residence in the midst of the horrendous fires in Northern California’s Shasta County.
It looks like they were keeping each other company in the doorway. The fire department took them both in the same carrier to the SPCA where it is expected that they’ll make full recoveries.
It seems that they made friends in adversity. Firefighters initially found a dish and put freshwater in it before taking them to the SPCA.
The Carr fire has been described as the sixth most destructive wildfire in the history of California. It has been reported worldwide and it looks simply horrendous.
I have a lot of pages on interspecies friendships.
The photographs are by the Grass Valley Fire Department.
