This stray cat made a church his home, attends Mass, and has boosted the congregation.
In the town of Atibaia, Brazil (near San Paolo) a stray cat wandered into a church in the parish of São Sebastião and stayed. He has been named Junior and he sleeps in the church’s collection basket and grooms himself on the altar as the priest leads Mass.
Junior is loved and he regularly attends Mass.
“He always goes to mass.”
When he is not accompanying the priest at the altar he wanders the aisles or snoozes in the collection basket. As you can see the priest is completely comfortable with Junior’s presence during Mass.
He is cared for by the church’s leader, Osvaldo Boracini who loves him as do the churchgoers.
Comment: if you are religious (I am not), we are all God’s creatures. I’d say we are all equal in the eyes of God. Although the domestic cat is not mentioned once in the bible! Only the lion and leopard are mentioned in the bible when it comes to cats. So there you are.
The domestic cat features far more prominently in the Koran as the Prophet Mohammad loved and looked after cats.
P.S. the town has a population of 115,229 (2010). The church has a Facebook page from where the pictures were taken. Thank you. Great story.
