Pye and me – mutual love at first sight

Pye

Pye, again

I moved recently and decided that the home was too large for just myself, so I went to the local humane society and took a gander.

Amongst all these napping and playing cats, supposedly, was a shy beauty, who never came out to play. I was looking for a companion that wouldn't mind my long hours, and wouldn't just jump onto the counters to get petted, because that was where I often worked when I had a cake order.

When I found him, I sat down by his hiding spot and waited, just in case he wanted to play. I started petting the other cats in the room and eventually he came out to gently sit on my lap. He was beautiful.

His name was Pye and his gorgeous eyes and quiet way of asking to be petted won me over. I had no idea what to do. I had never owned a long haired cat, was it different, did I need to do something special for it, get a groomer? Of course I was asking questions because I knew I had to bring him home.

I got him into the car afterwords and once I got him home and let him out he was off, exploring, finding the food and litter, and picking a spot to sleep (right where I go to sleep on my bed, of course). He scouted out his hideaway spot and proceeded to make me fall completely in love with him.

He climbs onto my shoulder when I sit at the computer, he watches birds, loves to let me brush him, and loves to feed me his fur when he's extra affectionate. I had no idea about his breeding and neither did the shelter, but now that I know what he is, I can say with all clarity, "He's my doll."

Hi Ashley... thanks for your story. Please forgive me for changing the title. Your story said one thing to me and the title is based on that.

Cats choose us. Pye chose you. You seem to have fitted together from the word "Go".

Nice to hear. Pye found the right home for himself. They're smart you know.

Pye is quite a cute cat. Enjoy this dear soul and I am sure this little one will be happy having a home with someone who really loves him and enjoys him.

Yes he certainly chose you and what a good choice he made as you sound to be a true cat lover.
