Raccoon and Cat

Raccoon and Cat. Are raccoons smarter than cats?

The photograph shows a raccoon and cat together. They are very friendly towards each other because they have been socialised one with the other. Perhaps they were raised together. However, in the wild, if a raccoon encounters a cat he will normally ignore the cat. They are able to coexist fairly peaceably. If, for whatever reason, there is a fight between cat and raccoon then the raccoon will almost certainly, on almost every occasion, come off best and may even kill the cat. My research indicates that these sorts of fight take place rarely but somebody more knowledgeable than me might wish to correct me.
