Reasons Why Russian Blue Cat “Kush” Went Berserk

My thanks to Jackie Brooks who left a comment on the original page about the Russian Blue cat, Kush, who supposedly went berserk for no apparent reason. It was so bad the owner, Mr Gregory, called 911 which landed her cat at the local shelter being tested for rabies. Makes me cringe.

The video provides us with the answers, I believe — Caveat: I’d be cautious about what Mr & Mrs Gregory say in the interview because I don’t find them believable but if what they say about the circumstances are true then it would explain the aggressive behavior of this poor cat. The cat’s owners provide the reasons why their Russian Blue cat went berserk so why did they call the police? Why didn’t they react more sensibly? Seeking publicity? Got the idea from Lux?

Jackie’s comment:

And the plot thickens! Not sure if posting links is okay but I just looked up the story and found this interview with the Gregory’s. Mr. Gregory said that the day before this happened it was July 4th and fireworks were going off in the neighborhood, the day it happened there was a thunder and lightening storm, AND on top of all of that Kush had just gone into heat!!! Wow. Words fail me. There is so many things wrong with this story it’s hard to know where to start!

Some extracts:

“She’s biting me, biting me and clawing me all at the same time and like, hissing,” Teresa said. “So he grabbed her.”

“The cat bit, and it clawed, and I could get the cat a little ways away, and it would run right back and just jump me and claw, and scratch me and bite,” James said.

The list of reasons:

  • Fireworks
  • In heat! Why is she not neutered?
  • Trod on tail
  • Locked in room
  • Grabbed cat — Panic situation – commotion – which exacerbates things

Note: I have been cheeky in preparing the video. It has been copied. If someone dislikes that please leave a comment and I will respond promptly.

Poor cat was traumatized! OMG! Are they that ignorant?

Great comments everyone! You guys are awesome. I hope with all my heart that this kitty gets the help she deserves.

I have had experiences with cats of all temperments over the years. I have never known a cat to terrorize anyone or hold people hostage. It is likely that a cat would respond out of fear or being the recipient of mistreatment. I have also known cats to nip, scratch, or bite when overstimulated. Cats do have all kinds of temperments and people need to understand their moods and just leave them alone when they don’t want to be bothered. I think there is much more to the story than is being told.

Nor me. Just leaving the cat alone as you say will fix the problem (calm, patience and quiet). They appear to have forced things. Panicked. But like I say I am suspicious of their motives.

    Irish,

I have forwarded all the info about Kush and the link to the article/video about the cat to a friend who can contact Jackson- and all of the material has been forwarded to Jackson already. I do hope I hear back from my friend about Jackson’s reaction.

I also reached out to a local rescue/foster program a little while ago to find out if she can find an appropriate home/foster home for Kush and get Kush the necessary veterinary care she needs. I will update whenever I get any further information. Cross your paws y’all:) We want to save this kitty’s life.

We should petition Jackson Galaxy to assess Kush like he did Lux,they are bad pet owners for not getting her spayed,if Kush is put down the cat lovers will go ballistic with me included!

  6. Ruth aka Kattaddorra says:

I agree with Jo and Dee too, I feel so sorry for Kush, she has obviously been abused and now the abusers are trying to cash in on their story of how frightening the cat was.
    Stupid idiots!

    Michael,

I am so upset about this that I can hardly type correctly. This couple doesn’t deserve to have a cat, in my humble opinion.

They say that they never had a problem with the cat- but then they say that they took the cat to the vet to do everything (?) whatever that means, and the vet couldn’t handle the cat because she was so aggressive. Isn’t that a problem??

The vet certainly has a problem not being able to handle a frightened cat.. I wish I knew what vet she took this cat to… since I live close to Kush’s area.

Now that the news about this cat has gone viral, I see slim to none chances for her adoption. It is disgraceful that a cat that is 4 years old, who was so badly traumatized will more than likely be killed at the shelter. I am beyond angry- I am livid.

This is just so incredibly sad-.. beyond sad.. it is a tragedy.

    • Dee (Florida) says:

      Completely agree with you, Jo.
These 2 people are idiots. They’ve given poor Kush a death sentence.
They left out the part where Kush had spent the entire day locked in the bathroom before this incident. I wish I knew why they did that. Also, I’d like to know why they had taken him to the vet that time.
I’d like the name of that vet too. I would jump all over that information.

Jo, I so agree with you!!! And, yes, what the hell kind of vet can’t handle a cat!!!!!!!
