Rescuers work hand in hand over Christmas holidays to save kitten with severe tail injury
Rescuers from two rescue organisations, BARC Boone Animal Coalition and Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, worked hand in hand to save this badly injured little fella over the Christmas period when the first veterinarian they took him to was closed.

Itty Bitty were contacted by BARC for their help. BARC workers had found Benny a little male tabby stray with a very bad injury to his tail, which had become severely infected. They don’t know how he was injured but believe a dog did it.

They took him to their vet on Christmas eve and the clinic was closed until the following Tuesday. They contacted Itty Bitty who leapt into action. Dorella Tuckwiller, the founder of Itty Bitty drove 30 miles to pick up Benny. She says:
“The smell from infection was horrible and filled the car and my nostrils as I drove him straight to the Emergency Clinic. When we arrived he was immediately seen and given pain medication and started on antibiotics. A few hours later, he was in surgery.”
She reports that Benny is now doing fine thanks to the great work and tons of TLC. The infection had reached his back. Almost all of his tail has been amputated. He’ll have to undergo more surgery.

He is loved by his foster carer who wants to keep him. She can’t give him up. I know about that sort of problem.

This is a great story of cooperation between rescuers and kindness over the Christmas season which is exactly how we are meant to behave at this time. Great work.
