Wayland is currently in the care of the Humane Society of Mid Michigan located in Stanton and is expected to make a full recovery. X-rays showed the arrow did pierce his scapula but missed his vital organs.  It’s believed Wayland had been suffering for days when he was found.

The arrow has been removed and Wayland has begun his long journey to recovery.

Good morning from Wayland!

The Humane Society of Mid Michigan posted an update on Friday stating:

“Good morning from Wayland!

He was happy to hear that Officer DeVries is working with detectives at the Sheriff’s department this morning dusting the arrow for fingerprints. We are hoping this gets us one step closer to finding a suspect. Due to case sensitivity, we will not be sharing if useable fingerprints are recovered or not.

Wayland seems to be feeling better with each day. He is currently lounging around enjoying a nice warm bed. Right now we are doing all we can to keep him cozy so he can heal! Our greatest concern at this time is keeping him free from infection. He has the best veterinary care possible and will have his follow up visit soon.

The outpouring of support from all over the state has been absolutely amazing! We are so grateful to have a state full of wonderful animal advocates! Thank you to everyone who has donated towards his care!”

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer DeVries at 989-304-5572. Anyone wishing to donate towards Wayland’s care can do so by clicking here.
