Rosie is an extraordinary cat. Her owner, Lila Brissett tells us that Rosie is 32 years old. Her birthday is on June 1. Ms Bissett adopted her as a kitten in 1991. On the Guinness World Records website, they list Flossie at the age of 27 years as the oldest living domestic cat. Wrong I’m afraid!

It proves a point which I have made before namely that the Guinness World Records listings are almost certainly going to be inaccurate in some areas because they depend upon people reporting the age of a domestic cat or any other record. And sometimes people don’t report it and therefore they have the wrong data.

I think Ms Bissett is highly trustworthy so we can believe her. And a remarkable aspect of Rosie is that she’s been to the veterinarian twice in her whole life. Once to be spayed and the other time to have a cyst removed from her head.
Rosie sleeps all day as is to be expected. She wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep again.
Ms Bissett has been advised to contact Guinness World Records! She Lives in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. Good advice.
And, Ms Bissett mentions that Rosie has all her teeth! That, actually, is a fantastic record in itself because very often you get poor dental health in old cats. It is a very common health condition. Rosie must have fantastic genes and be very robust.
Perhaps we should ask Bissett what she feeds her cat. What does she do? Anything special or different?
They live in a ground floor apartment. And quite naturally, Ms Brissett is dreading the day when Rosie dies because she’s been with her for 32 years.
I would expect Guinness to update their website fairly soon!
Yes, I know it is strange. Must be good genes. Super-good genes.
Wow! Teeth still! No way! What does she feed her?!?
