It is sad when volunteers and employees of an animal shelter feel that they have to make complaints about management and about practices which they consider to be unethical. I have heard of this sort of thing happening before. In this instance one of the employees made an allegation that the management were manipulating the euthanasia rates by stating that some animals were euthanised because they were aggressive to people and animals. It is claimed that these animals were non-aggressive and that this label was adopted to reduce the euthanasia rates. In this instance the employee who made the allegations was fired but the shelter claim that she was fired for reasons other than being a whistleblower. They claim she lied about something and failed to notify them of a protest organised on Facebook. They also claim that the euthanasia rate at the shelter are going down rapidly.
