The Siamese is the most exotic looking domestic cat other than wild cat hybrids. For decades this cat breed has been the natural choice for celebrities and film stars. Here is a list of celebrities and film stars who have kept a Siamese cat:
- Paul Newman – his cat was called Louis XIV
- Cary Grant
- Vivien Leigh – Vivien Leigh, Paul Newman and Cary Grant took their cats outside on leads. It looks as if it was fashionable at the time. Glamorous and exotic.
- Laurence Olivier as husband to Vivien Leigh
- Clark Gable as husband to Carol Lombard
- Carol Lombard
- James Mason – he wrote a book about their cats with his wife. He illustrated it.
- Errol Flynn – cat: Bes Mudi. The name is a mixture of “Best Buddy” and “Muddy” (i.e. cats walk in the mud).
- Jane Powell
- Olivia de Havilland
- Valentina Cortese
- James Dean – cat was named Marcus and a gift from Elisabeth Taylor
- Elisabeth Taylor
- Jane Fonda
- Jayne Mansfield
- Glenda Farrell
- Anna Pavlova (ballerina)
- Fred Astaire
- Donna Drake
- Mary Astor
- John Lennon (one of the Beetles) – when married to Cynthia. Cat named Mimi
- George Harrison
- Eric Clapton
- Sophia Loren
- Frank Zappa
- Kim Novak
- Raymond Burr
- Georgia O’Keeffe (American artist)
- Anthony Perkins
- Greer Garson
- Charlie Chaplin
- Alice Cooper (pop star)

I am sure that for some of these celebrities their “ownership” of a Siamese cat might not have been for that long a time. There may have been a element of self-promotion in the relationship but that may be a bit cynical of me.
This list is probably incomplete an/or it may be inaccurate. If so I’d like it if you’d correct me.
All the Siamese cats that lived with the stars listed were “old-style” Siamese – the nearest to the original Siamese in my view and less extreme than the Modern Siamese.
