Sister and brother rescue cats separated by shelter cried for each other incessantly

This long-winded video demonstrates that shelters should keep close siblings together whenever appropriate. This is an example of separation anxiety not of a cat missing his human caretaker but of one cat missing another.

Although the video is teased out in length and overly long, the point made is clear and important. When there are siblings who are clearly close and supportive of each other it is irrational for an animal shelter to separate them by allowing two different adopters to take them away.

Sometimes siblings don’t get on when adult but when they are clearly getting along they should be re-homed together. Jackson Galaxy supports this concept. And it also means that the cats’ owner has less to do in terms of keeping them entertained and happy. They are self-sufficient together.

  2. We kept both Frog and Toad although we discussed only keeping one. It was obvious they had a deep bond and still do. As Toad is more timid Frog is her leader. At nearly 3 they are still deeply bonded.
