Sphynx cat attacks family dressed in motorcycle gear inside sparse home

If you watch the video, I am sure that you will agree with me that this is a bizarre situation. You see a Sphynx cat, a female cat who has lost her kittens we are told. We are further told that the cat became aggressive at that time. They appear to have locked her in a room and then when they let her out they sit around the living room in motorcycle gear from head to foot looking for all the world like astronauts in the most bizarre sight. It would be laughable and amusing but for the emotional state of the cat. And they blame the cat for the problem.

The Sphynx cat then proceeds to attack them. No doubt she feels incredibly isolated in what appears to be a very hostile and sparse situation. The whole environment looks incredibly unfriendly to me and I would have thought that it feels the same way to this poor cat. My overriding feeling is that they are making things much worse by behaving as they are.

They should do all they can to normalise the home, make it warm both physically and emotionally, play with their cat and generally apply some common sense to what has become a totally unacceptable situation for both cat and humans. Jackson Galaxy would have a field day in this home.

It almost seems that the cat has become unsocialised in reverting back to the wild. And that may well be what has happened because she is in a hostile environment and her natural instincts have taken over. I don’t know if losing kittens makes a female cat aggressive. It might do and it might not do. I’ve never heard of it. I don’t think it does. My distinct impression is that the environment in which this cat lives has created this fearful response. This is a terrified cat in a constant state of stress and anxiety, near the edge constantly and incredibly wary.

There is no doubt in my mind that she perceives the people wearing cycle helmets as hostile strangers in her home (her home range) and therefore she attacks them. She attacks the helmet, please note.

Everyone should be removed from the home except the person who knows the cat the best and vice versa. Then that person should play with this cat, feed her beautifully, love this cat and treat her incredibly gently and cautiously initially and bit by bit I think she will come around. It’s going to need patience and a lot more commonsense than is being portrayed in the video.

I think too that the whole thing is somewhat staged for the camera. It looks strangely artificial.
