The social media post is “Aleksandra Polischuk was a breeder of Sphynx cats. She was killed when her home near the Kherson Bridge in Ukraine was destroyed by shelling. This is the face of war.”
Yes, it is horrific. But she joins tens of thousands of other civilians killed by Putin’s forces in his illegal invasion of Ukraine.
I have searched for information about her Sphynx cats. What happened to them? I can’t find an answer. Others are asking.
I think we have to make the uncomfortable conclusion that they were killed with their owner. If a shell destroys a person’s home and breeders operate from their home, we have to conclude the shell destroyed the cats and the breeder.
Another example of animals killed by Putin’s forces. I have to mention that the social media reporting and reporting in new media about her death is very anthropocentric, meaning human-centric.
As an animal advocate I believe these stories should automatically report on what happened to the animals and if the reported does not know they should at least mention the animals as a sign of respect for them.
Here is the same post on Twitter. I have added it for SEO reasons and in case the Facebook post fails to render properly.

May Aleksandra Polischuk rest in peace. I hope the cat man of Ukraine saves her kitties.
Yes, RIP. It makes me sigh in despair at the world.
Thanks for mentioning the animals of Ukraine. We need also remember the wild animals and zoo animals killed by Putin. Hundreds of thousands have been reportedly killed in total. It is truly horrific.
