I detest sport hunting. A lot of people do. They can’t see animals other than as ‘objects’, inferior to humans. If a person sees an animal as a sentient being with emotions and a brain it is much harder to kill them for fun. It would have to be almost impossible. Sport hunters need to realign their attitude towards animals. Times have changed. Sport hunters are intellectual dinosaurs. They are a throwback to a byegone age; a less civilised age. Sport hunters have to be intellectually stunted. They need to educate themselves.
What has this got to do with cats? Sport hunters delight in killing cats of all kinds from bobcats to lions and tigers; even feral cats such is their manic desire to kill, kill and kill some more.
Beautiful story.
To most people, it would bring warmth and love. But, like Woody, I don’t think that anything would be able to penetrate a brain like theirs. It’s hard for me to even believe that they are humans who should possess some degree of intelligence, logic, and reasoning.
Stories like these might seen to be unique and pique our sense of wonder that something supernatural takes place, but I see it as even more amazing for just what it is: totally natural. It’s our collective detachment from nature then having so much of it from everywhere that constantly challenges what we knew, changing it to what we know.

I thought it was a great story and it shows how intelligent and like humans animals can be.
Thank you for sharing this story of tragedy and triumph with the help of a magpie that rescued the rescuers.
such a lovely story, and yes, anipals DO and ALWAYS WILL be there for us in our worst times — more than I can say for most humans unfortunately, but that’s why I love them so!! ♥♥♥
