Street artist paints illusion of Sphynx cat on old gas tank

A very impressive work of art. For me there are two things that make it work so well. Firstly the artist, Tom Bragado Blanco from Marseille, France, paints the landscape behind the gas tank onto the gas tank as well as the Sphynx cat. This makes the gas tank disappear and it looks like the cat is in the landscape. Secondly this guy is a fantastic draftsman. Super skills on display.

  • Yeah, whenever there's a street art festival, I HAVE to go see it. This type of art is often displayed with chalk, believe it or not, on sidewalks here. They'll force a perspective that might even make it look like there's a deep canyon or something as part of it, and it's so realistic. As with them, this one is also best or only effective when seen from one angle. I had an art friend who worked at Disneyland who clued me in to hidden signatures artists would put into a landscape that you could only see from one angle, like that. I especially appreciate Mr. Blanco's work that takes an unsightly thing like this tank and beautifies it like this. I absolutely love it. Thanks Michael.
